Not posted on here for around 2 months because I currently have no home internet. I've moved into a brand new building and will be without it for a while.
So this must be short and sweet. 3 and a half stars, would have been 5 for the pleasure of the read, but after about half way you realize Napoleon can do no wrong in Cronin's eyes and you begin to doubt whether you can take this seriously as historical non fiction.
I'd say you should pick it up if you have an interest in Napoleon, because it's a page turner, but only if you are doing so as part of a broader read on the topic. If you just want one book for a rounded, general over view of Napoleon's life, this isn't it.
Enjoy your week.
